We are looking for General Lab Support Specialist to provide critical lab support to customer sites in Weybridge and Maidenhead, UK.
Job purpose
The GLS specialist provides a centralised service responsible for dirty pickup, processing, and clean delivery of laboratory glass and plasticware. Glass must be inspected to ensure all pieces are visually clean before returning to customer locations. Environmental monitoring such as ambient and compressed air sampling, water sampling and validation swabbing helps to ensure labs/rooms where product is manufactured and tested is compliant. A successful candidate should have great attention to detail, outstanding organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively and be able to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
Pick up and deliver glassware, biologically contaminated reusable glassware, and plastic ware.
Observe the established procedures for the handling and transporting of glassware and contaminated items.
Operate autoclaves for decontamination or sanitisation
Operate glassware washers and drying cabinets
Environmental monitoring at Weybridge and Maidenhead sites, including purified water, ambient and compressed air sampling and validation swabbing.
Daily/Weekly general lab duties such as daily balance checks, helping to organise the lab, checking water purifier read-outs, topping up stability chambers
Helping GLS team member to maintain site lab gases including ordering, moving and hooking up laboratory gas supplies.
Maintain equipment forms and use proper documentation
Prepare items for sanitisation including glassware, caps and related articles, employing procedural steps during the process
Inspect glassware for cleanliness and structural defects
Routinely checks inventory of glass, notifying Site Lead or Lab manager of deficiencies
Provide housekeeping of glassware processing areas
Follow all procedures in performing all aspects of glassware processing
Use Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for all paperwork
Observe all safety precautions and is proactive in raising safety concerns
Complete all required training in a timely manner.
Requirements:
High School Diploma
Glass wash experience preferred
Laboratory experience preferred
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Demonstrates appropriate use of relevant equipment after training
Travel between Weybridge and Maidenhead sites required, so driving license is essential
Physical demands
The overall physical exertion of this position requires:
Sit or stand 2-3 hours in laboratory areas
Walk 2-3 hours within a facility
Reach above/below the shoulder, bend at the knees and waist
Lift up to 25lbs
Office work activities, including keyboard, with fingers/hands/arms up to 4 hours.
